Dear Parent,

As the school year gets underway, I wanted to remind you of several upcoming events here

at Regent School.

 1.  Materials for our Candy and Gift Sale will be sent home on Monday,

September 15th.  Our Candy Sale is not mandatory, and we won’t charge   you    a fee if you choose not to sell.  However, the candy sale allows us to purchase big ticket items like buses, desks, chairs and to make much needed renovations likechanging the tiles in the school without significantly increasing our tuition.

2.  Piano lessons will start on Monday, September 29th.  Each student will get 30 minutes of piano instruction per week.  The cost per session will be $10.  This

means that for October the cost will be $50.  If any parent wants their child to take more than one lesson per week, please let us know, and we will work to arrange it  with the piano teachers.  Please sign the attached consent form, and return it with the $50 cash payment by Wednesday, September 24th.  If any parent is interested in having their child learn another instrument other than piano, please let us know, and we  will try to accommodate you as best we can.

3.  Our first school holiday is the observance of Columbus Day on Monday, October 13th.

4.  School Photo Day for kindergarten, both first grade classes and second grade will  be on Thursday, October 16th.  Grades 3 through 6 will take their photos on Friday,  October 17th.  We will send home an order form on or before Wednesday, October 8th.

5.  The Parent-Teacher Conference is scheduled for Election Day, Tuesday, November 4th.  There are no classes that day.  Please do not wait until the conference if you want to speak with your child’s teacher.  We encourage you to stay in close contact with our faculty.

6.  Please encourage your child to always bring home these letters from school.  They contain important information you need to know.  You can also check out our

website, www.regentschool.com, under the heading “Current Events” to read the

most recent letter to parents. That is all for now.  As always, feel free to call or visit if you have any questions or concerns.

                                                                                    Sincerely,

Dear Parents:

I want to welcome everyone to Regent School for the start of a new school year.  The first day of school is always an exciting time, and we are all ready to begin the journey to a healthy and productive year.  It was great seeing our returning students and meeting all our new students.  I am sure our new students, with the help of their classmates and our staff, will have no problems adjusting to Regent School.

The Regent School staff is the same as last year.  We have a group of excellent and dedicated teachers who value a quality education and will do their best to ensure that every child reaches their potential.  Along with your support, we are confident that your child will have success and be equipped with the confidence necessary to achieve.

The entire staff at Regent School will work with both students and parents to ensure a positive learning experience.  Parents are encouraged to communicate with their child’s teacher on a regular basis throughout the year.  Please do not wait until report cards are sent home to express any concerns or questions you may have.  You are always welcome to come in and discuss your ideas and thoughts as to how things are going.  If you would like to speak with your child’s teacher, please let us know in advance, and we will schedule a time for you to meet with her.

Below is a list of changes that you need to be aware of for the school year.

1.          It is imperative that students arrive on time to school.  Regent School has an      official start time of 9 A.M., but we want all students here by 8:30 A.M.  This will    give each student the opportunity to get settled and put all their things away             before entering class.  It is very disruptive to the class when students arrive after 9          A.M.    We want our children to be punctual in all things they do, and the example      you set now will stay with them for a long time.  Those students who arrive       consistently late will not be eligible for the Honor Roll or perfect attendance.

2.         Parents who bring their children to school are not permitted to go into their child’s  classroom after 8:45 A.M.  Your child’s teacher will be preparing for her day and  will need some time to plan her first lesson.  She will need this time to review so      that she can be as productive as possible.  Please, if you need to speak with her,            tell the secretary and we will schedule an appointment.

3.          Parents who pick up their children are to wait in the lobby for their son/daughter.The secretary will go to your child’s classroom and get him/her for you.

4.          All children who are not in the After School Program (ASP) and who are not on the 3 P.M. bus or in kindergarten are to be picked up by no later than 3:10 P.M.

5.         The school uniform is to be worn at all times and by all students even if it’s their birthday.  Students are not allowed to dress down at anytime, unless a letter is sent home stating suspension of the uniform policy for a particular day.  If there is inclement weather, (rain, snow), students can wear boots to school but they  must also bring their shoes to change into once at school.

6.         Students are allowed to have birthday parties at Regent School, but we need at  least 2 weeks notice.  There also needs to be an adult from the child’s family at the party.

These changes are for the overall benefit of every student that attends Regent School.  We appreciate your continued support and help as we continue to prepare students today for the challenges of tomorrow.

                                                                                    Sincerely,
